First south island stages, partly with a lot of rain :-(

On Tuesday morning or noon we started relatively late, so we had to cope with the first climbs in the midday heat. On the way we were once again a tourist attraction :-)
On the Queen Charlotte Drive we drove westwards towards Nelson. Shortly before reaching the DOC campground in Pelorus Bridge we had the first flat tire on the trailer. We had run in a small piece of wire.
The next morning started with a light drizzle. The steep and long uphill sections seemed much less bad than they were described by oncoming cyclists. Fortunately, the rain let up for the lunch break, so we were able to let the tent, which had been wet in the morning, dry (except for an incident with a macerating dog, it dried well). Unfortunately it rained in the afternoon again in streams.
Therefore we decided to sleep in Nelson after more than one month once again in a real bed and stayed overnight in the youth hostel.
Since the hostel manager is a tandem rider himself, he could also tell us the right bike store in Nelson for our latest tuning idea. Since we had already received the tip regarding click pedals several times, we wanted to take a closer look. So we converted our tandem from mountain bike pedals to click pedals. We are now curious how it can be driven with them after the familiarization period ... the first short trips were already problem-free and we fell despite Warnugen, or just because of it, not yet at any intersection.
Now we hope that the weather forecast for tomorrow is right and the weather will be better again, because we have booked a kayak tour at the Abel Tasman National Park.
While Moritz is typing the blog article, Rana is entertained by the family in the camper next door. The slightly bored children look what you can do with the many objects in and around the camper so everything. These gimmicks do not always meet the expectations of the parents :-)
In the last few days we have processed some more picture series to panorama photos, which now change randomly in the header of the blog.
