After a short day's ride to Arthurs Point, a small settlement 6km above Queenstown, we made a first detour into town. During this excursion we stocked up our food supplies and booked a Lord of the Rings tour for the next day.
The following afternoon we embarked on the tour, which was conducted in one of the company's 18 Land Rover Defender 110s. As with other excursions/tours, the driver commented on the surroundings and made for an entertaining ride. We paused at various places, which are movie locations, where we received more information about the film shoot. The tour took us to a place called Paradise, which is north of Glenorchy.
On the last day in Queenstown, a trip with the gondola up the local mountain was on the agenda. There, as in Rotorua, we rode something similar to a toboggan run.
