A short day stage followed by a very cold one.
After crossing the Lindis Pass, we treated ourselves to a short day's ride of about 35km to the village of Twizel. On this short stretch, a strong tailwind pushed us.
From Twizel we followed several channels of hydroelectric power plants. These are relatively exposed, but with a tailwind this is no problem :-) Further, the roads along the canals have very little traffic. On one of the routes we would have 15km only one overtaking car.
Also on this day we were pushed in stretches by a strong tailwind. The tail wind came however from the south and was accordingly cold and we drove thus nearly the whole day with jacket, neckerchief and gloves.
In the tourist town of Lake Tekapo we visited the hot pools, which are heated with the waste heat from the adjacent ice rink, due to not particularly good weather.
