On the second day, the Olympic Discovery Trail unfortunately ended for us again and we now had to drive on the highways. Most of the time this was not a big problem due to the wide shoulder. Only the missing shoulder on bridges is a bit troublesome.

In the afternoon we crossed the Hood Canal over the more than two kilometers long pontoon bridge. Unfortunately we had there no good opportunity to photograph these.

Since we had started relatively early in the morning and we made good progress despite the inclines, we reached the state park already at 14 o'clock. From the appearance the sanitary facilities looked as if they had been designed by an interior designer of prisons :-).

Besides the positive changes compared to Canada/Alaska with more comfortable campgrounds, there are also other changes in the USA: There is more garbage on the roadsides and sometimes it seems as if car engines are only switched off at night.
