The days are getting hotter and hotter.
Since we deviated from the Adventure Cycling Association's Pacific Coast Route to Twanoh State Park, we looked for an "easy" way back to the route. The easy, however, referred exclusively to planning. We set a point on the route as a destination on our GPS and rode off. We did not check the planned route, because it looked good at first sight.
Since our GPS does not know an elevation model of North America, we enjoyed a shortcut with a 15% incline. After we had climbed the Alder Ridge, we then checked the route and found that the slope with a few kilometers more, would have been much lower. Far away from the highways we enjoyed quiet and beautiful back roads at up to 31°C.
In Elma we drove to the RV Park there. At first sight it looked more like a mobile home park. But it was one of the best campgrounds. Between the RV's there was a wonderful lawn with shade and sun for camping. The $5 for the Hiker/Biker site was also a very low price! As a welcome gift we received 8 homemade Choclate Chip Cookies.
