Many meters of altitude and many kilometers
On Sunday morning we started early with the crossing of Cape Lookout. Again we benefited from very little traffic early in the morning.
Arriving in Pacific City we almost crashed because there was a lot of sand blown onto the road from the ocean. On very soft ground our tandem with the luggage becomes difficult to steer and the front wheel thus tends to slip away sideways.
Before Lincoln City the route of Highway 101 was "improved". This gave us the opportunity to follow the route of the old highway. Once again we could enjoy a quiet, winding road through the forest. The old road was so "wavy" that the descent was like a roller coaster.
From Lincoln City we shared the road with the avalanche of vacation traffic. Sometimes we were even faster than the cars, which were backed up for several kilometers.
Along the coast we could watch whales again in the afternoon.
Despite over 100 kilometers and over 1000 altitude meters we reached the campground already before 16:00. In the State Park we had for the first time also sockets with the Hiker/Biker place around telephones / Navi's to load!
On this place we saw in the evening even campers who watched a movie in front of their caravan with projector and screen.
