Long day over many bridges
As we traveled south and the days got shorter, we needed our flashlights more and more. On the Honeyman Memorial State Park we used these now already a first time in the morning around in the tent to pack, because it would have been otherwise too dark in the forest.
After the Labor Weekend it had now on the Highway 101 clearly less traffic, but it had again some trucks. These are usually preferable to us, because their drivers can estimate distances and speeds much better than the occasional drivers of the huge RVs.
On the highway we crossed some very nice bridges. One of them was the Coos Bay Bridge, over a kilometer long, which is not so popular with cyclists because of the narrow roadway and crosswinds. We were fortunately able to cross the bridge with very little traffic (we were only passed about five times) and no wind problems.
At noon we had a few drops of rain for the first time in a long time. Despite the little rain, the sky remained hazy and yellowish due to the forest fires in the interior.
Due to uncontrolled arithmetic during planning, we drove a little longer than expected that day and reached the campground only after 92km.
