Our first "real" stage of the day consisted of the climb towards Sunwapta Pass on the Icefield Parkway.
Shortly after leaving Jasper, we were warned of bears by a sign very often photographed by cyclists. This sign also asks to stay in the vehicle if a bear is sighted :-)
After a short stretch on the quiet Icefield Parkway, we turned onto the even quieter Hwy 93A. We noticed the very clean roadsides. Further we enjoyed nice picnic areas, which are mostly very well equipped.
On one climb we were overtaken by some racing cyclists. At our lunch break we met this group again, where they were being fed from the grill of the support vehicle. Our support vehicle (the bob trailer behind the tandem) provided us "only" with the pasta salad prepared the night before.
We met the group then unteregs still several times, because they made a little more and longer breaks, but were faster than we.
In the evening we reached then quite tired the simple campsite Jonas Creek, the 84km with 977hm in a little more than 5h was "untrained" not bad at all :-)
