On the Alaska Highway we meet other tour riders.
After resting and shopping in Tok, we started the long drive on the Alaska Highway.
Shortly after Tok we discovered a weigh station for buses and trucks. After inquiring with the person in charge, the range of supply was extended to include bicycles... On the display we could read 620lb (~281kg) fully equipped.
At the turnoff to Chicken we discussed again the option to drive the Taylor/Top-of-the-World Highway. But we decided against it, because we had to deal with longer gravel sections, a difficult water supply, wild camping and a moderate weather forecast.
The Alaska Highway turned out to be not as big and busy as expected. There was more traffic, but not as much as expected. So one drives also here partly over a quarter of an hour until one meets again a car, or frequent camper.
Shortly before Northway Junction, three tour riders caught up with us. Marta, Edward and Frank started their tour in the very north in Deadhorse. Since we had a lot of experiences to share, we decided to camp together in Northway Junction.
The camping behind the store (which has seen better days) was surprisingly nice. The mosquitoes were more aggressive than ever.
