An impressive family of cyclists
After the relaxed previous days, we now drove again a longer day stage along the beautiful coast. Since we had already booked the campground (weekend, Saturday to Sunday), we could drive the 84km comfortably. With tailwind and not too many meters of altitude (only 490), we progressed briskly with an average speed of over 16km / h for our conditions.
After we had to find out on the previous day that the casing of the front tire came off (we suspect a consequential damage due to the too low tire pressure at the beginning of the trip), we had to get a spare tire in the morning. We were very lucky and got a new front tire already in the first bike store (with the size 20" it is not easy to find a tire suitable for touring). Although our provisional repair held relatively well, we replaced the tire immediately.
On the way we met an impressive family from Whitehorse, which made a vacation tour along the Sunshine Coast and Vancouver Island. With their children (~ 4, 7 and 12) they rode daily stages of 30 up to 70km! Even though the parents had most of the luggage and the youngest traveled in the trailer, these are remarkable achievements!
Arrived at the campsite, we once again enjoyed a properly home-cooked sauce with minced meat, tomatoes and pepperoni with pasta and cheese.
