In the morning we started with some fog and very light drizzle southward to cross the Columbia River. The first half of the river we crossed with a bridge. Afterwards we took a small ferry from the island in the middle of the river to Westport, Oregon.

From Westport we biked on the well-traveled Highway 30 towards the Pacific Ocean to Astoria. Because of the rather cool weather and the traffic, we covered the 50 kilometers almost without a break.

In Astoria we made a rest day and stayed overnight in a hostel. So we had once again the opportunity to work on the blog articles and visit the Maritime Museum.

During a very good dinner at the Fort George Brewery we learned from the cyclists from Wisconsin the dice game "Farkle".

Since Astoria is again a somewhat larger place, we could profit here also once again from a bio store. Such stores offer a more exciting food selection compared to regular supermarkets, as more specialty and local cheeses and charcuterie are available here.
