Beautiful coastal road and overnight stay at an expo site.
In the morning we started in Trinidad again in the fog. The small narrow coastal road parallel to Highway 101 was quite hilly and partly in a comparable condition as the Denali Highway.
On the hint of Sigrid and Kevin we visited the Lost Coast Brewery in Eureka, which is not only known for its beer, but also for the homemade ice cream. Since we still had a few kilometers to go, we decided to forgo the beer tasting but enjoyed the wonderful ice cream!
From Eureka we could enjoy again nice warm weather with tailwind. On the freeway the shoulder was so wide that the signaled speed limit of 65 miles/hour didn't bother us much. Nevertheless we were glad to leave the freeway and drive on side roads to Ferndale. There we stayed overnight at the Fairground (agricultural Expo area). Despite rather reduced food supply in the village store, Kevin made fine burgers for us for dinner.
